Glimmer of hope

The lighting in this photo is what first caught my eye. From the bold yet soft fold in the top, to the vibrant blue in the stones, the thumbnail version of this screamed full view me! I was glad to do so. Aside from the colors, this photo is made great because of the depth of it. There is a great distance of water between the rocks and the shore in the back, and it is a great focal point for reflection. As I look at this piece, I find myself torn as to what is the true focal point; the sunset in the back, or the dominate rock in the front. My eyes travel back and forth, taking in the beauty of both aspects. This is quite a good effect because it keeps us viewers looking at the photo, we don't want to load a new image, we want to see what all we can discover within this one. As I spend more time looking at this, I notice you can see rocks submerged in the water near the front. And when I look up again at the top, my eyes start to wander from side to side, along the line of light carved by the sun. Overall, this must have been a naturally beautiful day, but the way you captured it leaves so many options as to what the viewer can look at.
